Pitru Paksha 2023 Recipe: Pitru Paksha has started from today i.e. 29th September. According to the Hindu calendar, Pitru Paksha lasts from the full moon date of Bhadrapada month to the new moon date of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month. During Pitru Paksha, Shraddha rituals are performed for the peace of the ancestors’ souls. While performing Shraddha of ancestors, it is important to follow some special rules. A similar rule is also related to the offerings of Shraddha. It is believed that pumpkin curry is included in the Prasad during Shraddha. In such a situation, let us know how pumpkin curry is made for Shraddha Prasad.
Ingredients for making pumpkin curry-
- 750 grams pumpkin
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1 tbsp ginger, chopped into pieces
- 1 pinch of asafoetida
- 1 tsp fenugreek
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tbsp mango powder
- 4-5 pieces green chillies
Method of making pumpkin curry-
To make pumpkin curry, first cut the pumpkin into thick pieces. After this, heat oil in a pan and add asafoetida, fenugreek and cumin seeds to it. When all these things start crackling, add ginger to it and cook till it becomes light dark in color. After this, add pumpkin and green chillies and fry on high flame for some time. When the pumpkin becomes golden in colour, mix salt, turmeric, garam masala, coriander powder, chilli powder and sugar in it and cook by covering the pan on low flame. Stir the pumpkin about three to four times in between. After this, add mango powder in the pan and cook for two to three minutes. Sprinkle green coriander on top and serve.
